Barbells for Boobs

October 21, 2012 Today was a really beautiful day. Last year I talked about it, this year I was able to participate in it. An even called Barbells for Boobs. " Barbells for Boobs is an extremely popular charity event in the CrossFit community. The money raised is donated to "Mammograms In Action (MIA) which is a  501(c)3 non-profit breast cancer organization  with the mission to provide funding for qualified low-income and uninsured women and men who need screening and/or diagnostic procedures in the prevention of breast cancer." CrossFit EXP, in Leominster put out some information that they were going to be hosting a Barbells for Boobs event and of course all of us at CFW were more than happy to participate. K and M posted the information at the gym and lots of us expressed interest. The event is basically an open back to back running of "Grace" which is one of our benchmark girl WODs. Grace is 30 clean and jerks at either 95lbs or 135lbs. I was o...

February 27, 2012 When most people think of "Grace" they have an image in their head of something sweet and soft... perhaps a new baby (since Grace is a super popular baby name now)... or even Grace Kelley... beautiful, graceful... BUT, ask any CrossFit athlete to tell you what they think of when they hear "Grace" and I guarantee you will hear a different answer. There is nothing soft and sweet that comes to mind at all! "Grace" is another benchmark WOD in the crossfit world. I happen to love the workout... right up my alley and I am able to challenge myself every time I do it. Its simple, its clear and its hard work for the entire WOD; 30 clean and jerks. Nothing fancy... no transition time, just 30 clean and jerks (womens weight is 95lbs). Amazing "Grace" (aka " Barbells for Boobs ") is an extremely popular charity event in the CrossFit community. The money raised is donated to "Mammograms In Action (MIA) which is a  501(...

Get Ready

October 19, 2011 This morning I was feeling a lot better when I woke up. I tried to go to bed early, but it was still at least 10:00pm before I was able to fall asleep. I did however say asleep all night which is a plus. Makes getting up with the alarm a little easier. I have been making myself get up on the first buzz rather than the good old faithful snooze. I have realized that just makes me more tired. Saw this on FB today and love it! I will probably need to remember it this weekend!! http://www.facebook.com/positiveoutlooks I didnt get to see the WOD last night before heading to bed, but Crossfit Milford who is hosting Garage Games "New England Team Throwdown" this weekend had the WOD's posted (finally). I am going to write about them when we do them so I am not going to list them out here, but we are all even more excited about the competition this weekend now than we were before! I think I was able to sleep a little easier knowing we would be ok for the w...
