Dedication

August 14, 2012   There are plenty of people who voice their opinion on how "obsessed" crossfit athletes are. I have hear it personally and I know I have talked to others that are in the same boat. "We" all know that we are not "obsessed," that we are actually just dedicated to a lifestyle in which we take care of our bodies in not only exercise and food but in the mind as well. I am sure to the naked eye, I have to look like a crazy mess... but I think deep down inside some people just cant understand how some crossfitters can be so dedicated to this life and they wonder why they "cant" seem to find the gusto to do it themselves. I think there is a line. A solid line between being completly OBSESSED with something and being dedicated 100% to achieving a goal. This isnt a "fine line" its a pretty solid thick line that if you understand what CrossFit does and how it works, you can clearly see the difference. Goals in CrossFit are ...

We are Family

January 21, 2012 We come in all shapes, sizes, ages, colors, backgrounds, heights, walks of life... you name it... but at CrossFit Wachusett... we are certainly one big happy FAMILY!! I absolutely love Saturdays at the gym. Having the ability to take your time, do what you have to do, work on the things you suck at for what seems like endless hours.... might seem like the suck, but in fact, its so enjoyable. It really helps that there is usually a great group of us who are all there doing the "same thing." We are all there to cheer each other on, celebrate a great PR and give a boost when its needed to get something we have been working on for a long time. Whats also great is that we get a chance to work with people we dont typically get to see. Everyone (including myself) has a schedule that we tend to stick with 99% of the time. Of course there is the occasional day off, or something where we might have to switch times... but lets be honest, not many people decide to...

Embrace the SUCK!

December 30, 2011 As it says in the title of my blog, a quote from Jim Ryan... "Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going." This would be my response to everyone when they think that I am NUTS at the fact that I took today off from work (and have also done this in the past) and still get out of bed at 4:45am and go to CrossFit. Why mess with a good thing, why change what has become routine, if it works... there is no reason to stop! For me, there is not much better than starting my day with a workout. Yeah there are some days where sleeping in is good... but thats saved for the 2 days a week that I take off from my workout. When I dont go, I am missing something. When I dont go, I feel pretty tired much longer in the morning, no matter how much I sleep or coffee that I drink. I dont like to sleep my day away, so even on a day off its nice to get home from the gym at 7:00am and have the rest of the day to do what I want! I will not lie. In the be...

September 26, 2011 ... so I got it. I checked the CFW website last night before heading to bed and K had not yet posted the WOD for today. While we were talking yesterday she said "so, which one do you want to do?" So I was pretty sure I was going to be faced with one of the Garage Games WODs this morning. I was not feeling well at all last night. My throat is sore, my nose was stuffed and I was exhausted... I keep telling myself its allergies but I am not so sure. As soon as I was done uploading the (well over) 400 pictures I took this weekend I made a CD for K and off to bed I went. Poor Hubs was still in the kitchen making our meals for the week, but I couldnt wait anymore. It was almost 10:00pm and I had to get up at 4:45am! I popped a benadryl and was asleep in seconds. What felt like seconds later... the alarm went off. I dragged myself out of my benadryl coma and got dressed. I was thinking that this was going to be a tough one as I was still all heavy in the che...
