It takes "Two to Tussle"

Image
April 28, 2013 Yesterday CFW was represented well at CrossFit Nashua for their “Two to Tussle” pairs competition! There were 10 of us competing and we were ready to go! What a great day it was. I have to give it up to CrossFit Nashua for hosting such a great competition. The location was great for the amount of people they allowed to register and they have a beautiful facility. We were able to find a great spot outside of their overhead door to camp out on and debut the brand new CFW Pop up Tent! As I said we had 10 competitors, but we wouldn’t have been near complete without our fellow CFW-ers who weren’t competing but wanted to come along to cheer us on and of course the “fans” who wanted to come check us out and give a good yell! My teammate W and I were ready to go. Pumped up and anxious to get started right upon arrival! Most of us started warming up right away as the ladies clean ladder was to kick off the event! The day flew by with tons of excitement! There was an ...

Challenge Accepted

October 27, 2012 I dont know if this is a "problem" or if its a good thing... but I just cant say no to a challenge! Hubs and I were on our way to the gym this morning and we were talking about what we were going to do. I had said that I wasnt really interested in doing the WOW, so I thought I would work on some skills... still unclear of what I wanted we arrived at the gym and were ready to get moving. I started to warm up and was approached by one of my fine CFW Ladies... she says "want to do the WOW with me" and I respond "no." She was getting warmup up and fired up for it, and as I am familiar with, wanted some company. The next thing you know she asks JM if she wanted in and she accepted. Well... they only had to look at me the right way (ok they just had to look at me any way) and I was in. Before I knew it I was setting up my weights getting ready to start a pretty grueling WOW. I was happy I did it... it was a lot of work, a challenge for ...

November 9, 2011 24 DAYS OF THANKS #9 - I am thankful for Dunkin Donuts. I know it sounds cliche... so I will clarify that really I am more thankful for the fact that its right across the street from my office. We use it for many different necessary distractions to get through some days at work. There are beautiful days like today when we can walk next door and get an iced coffee to enjoy the sunlight for a few minutes, there are some days where we are so crazy that we have to take a break to recharge... and of course there are those days where you feel like you are going to explode and need to "get out" for a few minutes. Thank you Dunkin Donuts you make the day go by! I will start off today by saying a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Hubs. Ten years ago this very day I was in a pretty sad place. My friend asked me if I wanted to go out to dinner to celebrate his friends birthday. I agreed (s...

Walking on Walls?

Image
August 26, 2011 Ask me two weeks ago if I would have been able to "walk on walls" I would have told you you were NUTS. In fact one of the first days Hubs and I were at CFW we saw someone doing them, wall walks and I was secretly thinking... good lord... I would be terrified I would fall on my face! When I arrived today, I had no looked at the website so to my surprise (and shock) I saw T doing wall walks. Fear went straight through me. However, I had to get into the mindset of "I can do this!!" I was tired. I woke up tired... didnt really get a good nights sleep last night. I hopped right onto the row machine for the 1K row... and completed the rest of the warmups. When I was done T had finished and I was ready to get going on the Strength and WOD. Strength was squats. I love squats... almost as much as I love deadlifting (this is for real... they are my favorite exercises). So my 1 RM was 185lbs. I and I were both kinda convinced that my 1RM was higher, lik...
