Europa Qualifier

Image
**Had to post some of the few dates I missed back in June/July for my archive** June 30, 2012 Hubs and I were both competing as individuals. This was going to be a first for both of us. Rx... individuals! So exciting and also so nerve wracking! We had no idea what to expect, as we know the Best of the East is a pretty large competition. This was the "qualifier" because the first place individual man, individual woman and team were automatically given a spot (without paying) for the real "Beast" in October. When we got there I was pretty intimidated. I started to look around and see faces that I recognize from various competitions we have been to. We were alone so we hooked up with our friends at CrossFit Exp for "camping out." The exhibition hall was pretty packed with all of the various activities they had going on; from jujitsu to arm wrestling... and strongman to figure competitions.... flooded down the middle by all sorts of vendors. Pretty crazy...

Must Lift

Image
September 29, 2012 Man oh man was I excited to get my package in the mail at work today!! Right away I got so excited for my first lifting session that I could wear them for! I knew it was going to happen today!! I have been wanting to get some lifting shoes for a while now and have talked to Hubs about it. When we went to Garage Games, Again Faster was there as a vendor. They had their new lifting shoes on display and they caught my eye... ok, I will admit, it was a little because they had green and grey shoes out there... but also because of the craftsmanship and the price. They looked to be pretty close to the Rizzo Olys that a few of the ladies have at CFW. They are really happy with them so I thought if these were made similar than I would be golden with the price. So I inquired with Again Faster and come to find out they are actually made by the same people that make Rizzos. They are all hand made and hand crafted... so they are also the same quality. The major plus is the fact...

Garage Games 2012 - Day 2

Image
September 9, 2012 Garage Games 2012 - Day 2 I slept pretty well after finally falling asleep. I tried so hard to get in bed early, but it just wasnt happening. Once I got there I laid there for about an hour just trying to get myself to relax... even as tired as I was. I still had so much excitement built up for day number two! When the alarm went off I had to hop right into the shower to get myself going. I hurried downstairs and made myself and Hubs some breakfast... yes you read that correctly... I made breakfast! I was very happy to see him walk downstairs after his shower and across the kitchen, yesterday it looked like he was going to need crutches to get around today. As soon as we were done we headed out to meet everyone to drive to Natick again. The ride there today was still so exciting. We chatted about our soreness... and about the WOD's to come... and how we wanted to do. Different conversation, as I think we were all a little less nervous and more excited since ...

Its a Virtue

August 31, 2012 Anyone that knows me in real life... especially my parents and Hubs can tell you, I have absolutely zero patience. I have never had any, not when I was a newborn, a toddler, a child, a teen, a young adult... and still, I have none now. I am not really sure why, and I am not really sure how, but it is something I am working on. Though most of the time I can translate it into being a positive there are times that it is not good. Sometimes it adds stress where stress is not necessary and when I get stressed, I get even more impatient and, well, you get the picture.  I think one of the biggest issues that people have with working out and "dieting" (for the record I hate that word now when used in that context and almost cringe when I write it), is that they want immediate results. With the workout, they want to walk into the gym, pick up the weights or run on the treadmill and in a two week time period see results. They want to spend a week eating a "low ...

No Secret

Image
August 27, 2012   Nope. There is no secret. If you want it... there is is... go get it.  God I wish there was a way that I could bottle this message up and feed it directly to some people. Even give myself (a little over a year ago) a healthy dose of it... But than again... that would in turn mean that there is a "secret" to success. When in fact what is stated above is perfectly true. Hard work, dedication, motivation and even some sacrifice is necessary to succeed This message is so important... from graduating from high school/college all the way to losing weight and eating right. There is NO easy way. There is no magic pill. There is no one who can do your work for you. To succeed you have to use your mind, your body, your talents and your abilities. I think that until you are ready to accept that, you will always be holding yourself back a bit.  Its amazing how much inspiration is lofted into the air at a CF Gym. Its just waiting for someone to com...
