The Cape

Image
October 17, 2012 So, I am probubly one of the few people who live in Massachusetts who have visited Cape Cod fewer times than I can count on one hand. However, I am pretty lucky... I work for a great company with a great boss who owns property on the cape. He invited my whole company (about 20 employees) to his place for an overnight retreat. His neighbors rent their property as well, so we were able to all sleep in our own beds. It was pretty fantastic! I got up in the morning and took advantage of the beautiful weather. I went for a run, did some mobility and stretching and of course I had brought my own food along for breakfast. We had a morning work session (with a beautiful view) followed by a great lunch. After lunch we were introduced to a woman from an organization called "Room to Dream" (http://roomtodreamfoundation.org/). They are a  Boston-based non-profit organization dedicated to creating healing environments for children and adolescents suffering from ch...

What a Difference!

October 8, 2012 Seven years ago today on October 8, 2005 Hubs and I stood in front of our friends and families and promised to love and support each other through all things that were to come in our future, good, bad, happy and sad. We have certainly put those words to the test over these 7 years and though we have been through many challenges we have have grown changed and had many many happy times. After working really hard and being in the "best shape of our lives" when we got married we spent the next 6 years with our fair share yo-yo dieting, trying new workout plans, different "styles" of eating... and to no avail we wound up right back where we started. Neither one of us looked at the other differently when we were out of shape and overweight, however I would be lying if that the way we were feeling about ourselves didnt affect our relationship. We are so very blessed and thankful that in the last year we have chosen to change or lives... mind and body......

Woodstock

October 7, 2012 Well, after two days off from the gym I was starting to get stir crazy. We decided upon waking up this morning that we needed to get moving. We even skipped the coffee and headed right down to the workout room at the complex. There wasn’t really much to choose from. Its off season (for skiiers) so they were doing repairs on the pool and hot tub. This means that the entire area was locked off including the weight room. We had peered through the windows and seen the equipment… most of which we wouldn’t use anyway… so we made do with just the cardio room. I am not a fan of treadmill running, but it was too cold to run outside and Hubs is still recovering from his injury so he wouldn’t have been able to come with me.   I hopped on and ran a 5K while he did a short travel workout. Its so nice that we enjoy the same things and encourage each other to get moving and stay motivated. We could have very easily sat on the couch another morning and convince ourselve...

Rutland

October 6, 2012 Today, another fantastic day with Hubs in Killington! While I was looking through the local paper while drinking my coffee we decided it would be fun to take a ride to Rutland for the day and see some of the local attractions. The weather was not to good, but good enough to walk around with just a t-shirt and jeans and alight hoodie. There was a great little farmers market going on that we checked out, but didnt purchase anything since we really didnt have anywhere to keep it till we got home... plus we didnt want to carry it around! But the other cool activity that was going on was called "Art in the Park" right in the square! Art in the Park was pretty cool. We took our time, walked around and checked out the local artists booths. There were some really amazing paintings, watercolors and photographs at a lot of the booths. Of course there were also lots of baked goods, honey and syrup... giant tubs of syrup... and your "usual" craft fair trinke...

Movie Spree

October 5, 2012 Today was a PERFECT day for Hubs and I. We arrived to Killington VT late last night and woke up to a beautiful view, a beautiful sunny day and a great little deck to have our coffee! We did exactly what we wanted to do today... NOTHING. It was a movie marathon day for us. We disconnected from everything. Left our phones were we couldnt see them or hear them, we didnt have our lap tops to go on to... we just had eachother and a bunch of movies! Perfect way to start our Anniversary weekend!! Of course we knew we would have to prepare food-wise for the weekend, so we brought eggs from home, lunch for today, some snacks and of course bacon!! Unfortunately, we totally forgot to take the Against the Grain pizza that we planned to have for dinner tonight out of the freezer at home so we decided to just bite the bullet and go get Pizza for take out. After looking at the map that we found in the lobby we decided to give "Domenic's Upscale Pizzeria" a sho...

Vacation Time

**Had to post some of the few dates I missed back in June/July for my archive** June 29, 2012 Conversation between Hubs and I a few months ago... Me: Hey look the Best of the East Eurpoa Qualifier is on June 30th, we should look into doing it. Hubs: Um, arent we leaving for vacation to Pennsylvania on June 30th? Me: Why yes... we are... BUT... Hubs: But what? Me: The competition is in Hartford Connecticut... Hubs: Yeah Me: So.... we have to drive right past the Hartford Civic Center on the way to Pennsylvania... Hubs: Oh God... Yes, so that is how it went... the next day we registered and we took off for Hartford a day early so we could spend the night, get a good night sleep and be rested up for our competition! After the competition the plan was to head back to the car and finish the ride to my family in Berwick PA.   WARMUP: Mobility Stretching
