March 26, 2013 Oh lovely day! I was pumped to get to the gym this morning to do this WOD. My kind of WOD. Just the right length, nice heavy weight, mix of skill (that isnt bar work or double unders... aka PISTOLS) and rowing! I like this kind of match up! This is one of my favorite pics of K from the Regional competition last year... she was doing this workout.   I am still so pumped for the remainder of the open! Personally I couldnt be more proud of myself and the rest of CrossFit Wachusett... individuals, team, whatever way you want to look at it. There are people inspiring people left and right. There are PR's there are goals set, goals met and goals shattered!! Its such an exciting time of year to be around such amazing people!! September 14, 2012 I stayed home from work on Monday for a recovery day. While I was home I was watching some reruns of How I Met Your Mother. One of the seasons they had randomly worked a doppelganger into some of the episodes for each of the main characters. A doppelganger, in case you dont know, is basically a "look-a-like" of someone, someone who bares so much resemblance to the person its uncanny. Its pretty common for people to ask on FB or other social media types who your "famous" doppelganger is. I have been told that mine is Jessica Biel (which certainly makes Hubs happy since she is his "freebee"). So, whats my point. Well, the common reaction... and my own reaction as well, is "I wish" when someone says that I look like her. I realize now that we all spend a whole lot of time in our lives trying to be someone we are not. July 27, 2012 Today is a bitter sweet day for me. When my brother Josh died my mom,dad and some Josh's closest friends decided that we were not ready to let him go so easily. We decided that the perfect thing to do would be to host a golf tournament (he was an avid golfer) in his memory and use the money that we raise to give two students who are graduating from the high school we went to in a scholarship. As I mentioned the other day, 12 years have passed since Joshua died... and we are still going strong with a golf tournament that we have held July since, this year being the 11th tournament. We have awarded $35,000 over the years in his memory. Each year we hand select the two students to receive the scholarship and more often than not we receive a beautiful letter from each of the kids thanking us for choosing them amongst all of the other students we could have picked.
