Melt My Heart

Image
April 5, 2012 I saw this picture on FB and it just melted my heart. This little girl is absolutely beautiful. She is proving right here that nothing will stand in her way from following her dream. This is where it starts. Determination, goals, dreams... whatever they are, whatever you want to call them. You are the only one that stands in your own way. There are lots of pictures of athletes out there with prosthesis, they have clearly overcome huge obstacles and never used their injury/disability as an excuse not to train or why they cant do something. This image gets me because this little girl is so innocent yet so strong and she dosent even know it yet. What stands in your way?! WARMUP: Jump Rope Circuit 2X - 10 Singles - 10 Each Leg - 10 Side to Side - 10 Front to Back - 10 Crossover - 10 Double Unders 10 Around the Worlds 10 Shoulder Dislocates SKILL/STRENGTH: "Death by Ring Dips" (10 Minutes working with small blue band) Core ...

Always Remember

Image
April 4, 2012 This was a good one to keep in mind today while doing the WOD (and yes, I am feeling much better today thanks for asking). There is a point where you have to remember that your ego will only take you so far. Its healthy to have confidence, but that confidence can cross a line to cocky pretty quickly if it isnt reeled in. I know I teeter on the line sometimes and its nice to be reminded of the things I really need to work at to keep myself in check. I dont want to be cocky at all... I will never grow if I am cocky.  When I saw the WOD today I was pretty excited both because it contained strengths and weaknesses and I knew it was going to be a good one to challenge my inner drive. I know I can clean, I know I can med ball clean, but I am still struggling on kipping pullups. They have certainly improved and I am certainly more comfortable doing them now, but its still mind over matter. Its a reminder that the only competition you have in a CF gym is with you...

Would You Go?

Image
April 3, 2012 Ahhh, Springtime. The time for rain, the time for sunshine, blossoms, bon fires, cooking on the grill, bees... and of course sniffles, sneezes, coughs and lots and lots of tissues. You first contemplate (like I was all weekend) if what you are coming down with is an actual "cold" or... maybe it could just be allergies! Hoping for the best, you convince yourself its just that and you will be fine. I woke up this morning after barely sleeping, tossing and turning... and (insert horror music here) I was sick. The throat was burning, the nose was running and I was still exhausted, despite going to bed at 8:30 last night. So, what do to... what to do... well.. get your ass out of bed and go to crossfit!! What else would I do!! I have to admit, the best I felt ALL DAY was at the gym. Yeah, you feel like hell when you wake up, you have been laying on your back all night and your tired. I mean, there are times I dont want to get out of bed on a "normal" ...

Light it Up Blue

Image
April 2, 2012 Today is "Light it Up Blue" for Autism Awareness Day. People are encouraged to wear blue in support for autism awareness and research. Thanks to all who did!!  Not only is today Autism Awareness day, but this month is the official month for Autism Awareness. New numbers have been released and there is now 1 in 88 diagnosed with Autism. These numbers are rising rapidly and with the proper treatment and the many amazing women and men (quite a few that I know personally) who have dedicated their lives to parenting, helping, serving, teaching, coaching and most of all just being there the lives of these children can be enriched dramatically! In case you aren't sure what exactly Autism is I took this from The Autism Speaks website "Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal...

April 1, 2012 Well, I took a little break from blogging. Had a heck of a week and couldnt muster up the time when I got home from work to blog, and to be honest after staring at my computer all day long at work the last thing I wanted to do was turn on my lap top when I got home. I think it was a good time for a break. I will be back this week... but I wanted to be sure I posted my workouts for those that follow... so they are all up!! Happy April!! .
