A Whole New Year
January 1, 2012
So, this is what it feels like...
See, last NYE I did what everyone (and their mother) does, I sit back and say to myself "this is the year I am going to get in shape." Than the next sentence is "starting January 1st no more excuses..." I can honestly say, last year I started off right. I was going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week trying not to make up excuses... trying to keep changing up my workouts... trying to stay motivated. It worked... kinda.
After 7 months I was totally bored with the workouts I was doing. I had plateaued after hitting a certain weight in all my lifts. I absolutely hated cardio, so I would spent the entire hour at the gym working with free weights... Hubs and I tried endless "diets" and supplements... and still only 10 lbs (of the 40+ that I was looking to lose) lost.
You know the story, if you have been reading all along... thats the time when Hubs and I came across CrossFit Wachusett. What I didnt know right away, but found out just weeks after starting, its the BEST thing that ever happened to me. CrossFit was about to change my life.
Today I sit here, thinking to myself... my resolution has nothing to do with "starting" anything. Its all about CONTINUING where I already am. As far as weight goes... I am 30lbs lighter than I was on January 1, 2011... this isnt because of a resolution I made last year to lose weight. This has to do with a decision that Hubs and I made August 8th last year when we did our first CrossFit workout. This has to do with another decision we made a month after that to lead a Paleo Lifestyle from here on out.
The funny thing is... the "number..." it really pales in comparison to how I feel about my self... the number of lbs I have lost really doesnt even come close to describing the feeling of adding years back to my life, going to a store and fitting in the clothes I want to buy, feeling proud of my body when I look in the mirror... and most of all... hitting that PR at the gym, beating my time from the last time I did a WOD... finally conquering a pullup <---- still working on that one!
Its just a number...
So, if today is your day... I wish you GOOD LUCK!! I will be there to support you, help you, coach you, pick you up, humble you, challenge you.... anything you need!! If I had a dollar for every time I said this in this blog I would be rich... the choice is yours. Only YOU can make the change!
