Do-Over
March 25, 2012
Ever just wake up and decide that you need a do-over. That something isnt going right and you just need a fresh start and another chance to go at something with a different attitude. I knew before even leaving the gym yesterday that there was going to be a do-over for 12.5. Yes, its the last WOD of the opens, no, it probably wont make a difference to the team (because K, KP and J have already scored higher than me for women), no its not going to make me qualify for regionals in any way... but for myself, for my mind, to fulfill something I need to do for myeslf, I have to do it again.
I wasnt the only one. KP, T, A, K and Hubs all wanted to go for round two today so K showed up to open the gym at 9:00am and we started Sunday off with a bang. What a friggin showing it was too!! KP and T were up first and as nervous as she was KP had an extraordinary performance!! I was so excited for her as she surpassed her goal and CRUSHED the 12.5! Giant smiles and big hugs and high fives were coming from left and right! It was pretty awesome!!
Next up, husband and wife dual number two... Hubs and I. I knew what my goal was and he knew his. The nerves were all over the place but what did I have to lose. Absolutely NOTHING.
I knew I was going to work as hard as I could. I knew what I did "wrong" on Saturday and I had to make sure what I gave this one my all. It was it... I had to close out the Open with a positive note. I banged out the 3's pretty quickly, I used the kip that I didnt start to use till the end of the rounds (after I was tired) to get my chest to the bar yesterday. The 6's were the same, I couldnt believe it, I was doing it and it was amazing! Finally when I reached the chest to bars for the 9's I had to push as hard as I could, this is where I got stuck before... and what do you know... I faught my way right through it and was on my way to the 12 thrusters!!
I was able to complete 7 chest to bars in the round of 12's which the day before was pretty much out of my vocabulary! When the clock beeped that the 7 minutes were complete I couldn't help my emotions. Tears practically came to my eyes. I was so proud of myself for making the decision to do this WOD again... not for anyone else but myself... and it was totally worth it.
Emotions filled the air and more PR's flew around... A had a great showing and K as well. All in all CrossFit Wachusett kicked some serious butt in the Open. I am proud of us all and I cant wait till next year!!
