My 30 Day Challenge Begins!
September 12, 2011
Today starts the 30 day Primal Blueprint Challenge on Mark's Daily Apple! Through the month the goals are to eat primal (click here for my post about primal and paleo), but in a nut shell keep your food limited to meat, fish, fowl, eggs, veggies, nuts, seeds and healthy fats and stay away from grains, beans and sugar. You can consume fruit, dairy, alcohol and dark chocolate in moderation. You should be keeping up with a good fitness plan and according to the website try to get 8 hours of sleep and 15 minutes of sun exposure a day. Below is a pic of the flier that they are using for quick reference. You can get that on their website as well...

Now, about today and yesterday. I am not going to lie. I am sore, sore sore. Mostly in my upper body, shoulders and armpits. My legs are a little sore, but I think they get much more of a beating on a regular basis so they arent as sore. I got up at 5:15 as scheduled and off I went to my last Monday in the garage at CFW (yay!! we are moving to Fitchburg next week)!!
I arrived and M and K were in the garage and T was warming up. I laughed out loud when I looked at the website last night and saw "Elizabeth" as the workout! Saturday when M, K and I were waiting to start WOD #3 I mentioned Mondays workout. They both agreed I would need Monday as a second recovery day. I wanted to still go to the gym though, but it was going to be a warmup and some long mobility stretches. So, why did I laugh... well because "Elizabeth" is a 21-15-9 with cleans and ring dips... man, oh man... the thought of cleans after WOD #3 on Saturday makes me cringe!! Haha!!
The last two nights I have had a hard time sleeping. Not only is it hard for me to roll over being sore, but I have had reoccurring thoughts of the infamous WOD #3 from the competition. I am really bummed I didnt finish. I am really bummed that all I needed was just a little more time. I was 4 burpees and two 200' walks away from finishing. While I am super proud of myself for doing all of the cleans prescribed 95lbs weight... I cant help but replay in my mind 100 times where I wasted all that time. "I should have not rested as much on the burpees" or "I should have kept powering through the cleans" and "all I needed was 4 more minutes!" its really frustrating. I just wanted to finish. I have decided that I am not going to let it get me down... but use it for motivation. I was telling K about this this morning and I told her "I am going to do this workout again, and I am going to kill it." So there you have it... once we move and we have the equipment... I am going to do it again, and I am going to do it in less than 20 minutes!!
I completed the warmup this morning and watched T do his 21-15-9. It was nice to get up and get moving. I was tight and sore when the alarm went off. I did a lot of hip mobility and shoulder mobility and plenty of rolling to loosen things up. Than we talked a little bit about Saturday again. I am pumped up about it still and feel a huge sense of accomplishment and relief that the "scary first" competition is out of the way. It can only get better from here!!
I got home and was getting dressed. What a nightmare. I guess it was a "good" nightmare... as I dont actually fit into any of my dress pants. I measured myself and have lost an inch off my hips, almost an inch off my "tummy" a half inch on each thigh and an inch off my waist. What does that mean? Well it means that my go-to pants are humongous, and the pants that were already getting too big are now even bigger... BUT... the pants that were too small, are still just a little bit too small so I am uncomfortable wearing them since they feel so tight. Hmmm, maybe a stop at JC Penny for at least one pair of pants that fit is in order (dont tell Hubs)!
