100% Mental

How unbelievably true is this. I cant not even stand it! When I saw this image I couldnt help but nod my head in agreement and say "YESSSSSSS" this is exactly what I have been trying to say!! In just a few simple words. Hmmmmm, do I need to elaborate?

Um, of course I do! I know I have talked before about mind over matter and how important is is to push yourself out of your comfort zone, but I think what I have started to forget is how hard it actually was in the beginning for me to make that change. The struggle I went through for years trying to find the "right" thing for my body, the "right" food to eat.... the "right" mind frame. I mean, I remember at the beginning of my crossfit journey how hard it was to complete workouts and what it was like to have to push to get through them... but thats not even what I am talking about....

There was a LONG journey to find CrossFit. I understand CrossFit is not for everyone so I am not even going to get into that either. What I do want to stress is the commitment. The struggle that I had just to commit to something. Stick with something long enough to see any sort of results... or to know that there wouldnt be any results. To invest time into something that seemingly took time away from something else (sleep, hanging out with friends, work, school, whatever).

I was an athlete in high school as well as a dancer. Seemingly there was nothing I couldnt eat. I started college and became a 5 day a week dancer. I have an obsessive personality when I find something I am passionate about. I always enjoyed weight lifting, but couldnt really get "hooked" on it. After graduation I was kinda lost without dance. I gained weight and just started to overall feel uncomfortable in my own skin... thats when the yo-yo started.

Anyway, in the years that passed from that point until I started CF I had a massive struggle. I may seem like the "crossfit crazy lady" to some of my friends, but man oh man, I was far from the "gym crazy lady" in days past. There were days I would be so grouchy because I didnt want to go to the gym, it was almost like Hubs had to drag me there some Saturdays. I would bang my head up against the wall because nothing seemed to work. Than I would get frustrated, my mind would slip and I would just give up. I can remember praying that the biker group would be at the gym so I wouldnt be able to find a place to park so I could just go home after work. I was annoyed and even though I thought I knew what I was doing, I just felt so out of place.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there is a curve. There is a time that it takes to get comfortable doing something. If you are willing to give it the time and the dedication it will be worth it in the end. If success in weight loss, or strength, or whatever, is what you are looking for, you HAVE to make a choice. What is most important to you. Eventually you wont have to struggle. The prize will be right in front of you and you will feel great. Its the best gift you can give youself and you deserve it.
