Hearing Voices?
August 13, 2012
This is one of the most important "lessons" I learned at the beginning of my "Adventures in CrossFitting." Now, even this far into my training and experiences, I still have moments where I battle with that little voice. I have learned to kick it way to the back of my brain and the second it starts so surface I push it right back down with every positive thought possible. That thought has no space in my mind.
As a "noobie" at the gym I can totally understand the feeling of having no idea how I was going to keep up with the workouts, how I was going to keep getting out of bed, wondering if I was never going to be able to walk without my legs killing all day long... all these things running through my head. One thing was for sure. I was going to do what I had set out to do and there was no question about that. The results did not come overnight and I know I am not finished yet, but if I had given into the voice, the thought that I couldnt keep up what I was doing, I wouldnt be where I am today.
One of the best things about CrossFit and CrossFit Wachusett particularly... is the community. We have the best group of people who would do and give anything for eachother. In the beginning it was just a few of us, all pulling for one another. Regardless of the number of members, I know very well that if it wasnt for us all being supportive of one another things would be a lot different. We formed relationships and they just keep building and getting stronger. Every question that pops into my head, or struggle that I may be having, I talked to someone. For the most part ever feeling I had was something that someone else had, or struggled with. Its comforting to know you are not alone.
As our membership grows I feel like our family is growing! I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and watching everyone grow (or shrink) and morph into the CrossFit Athletes that they want to be!! So exciting to be a part of something so special!!

ReplyDeleteDont be scared!! You have already witnessed the support and encouragement first hand from K and M! Take it one day at a time and know that we are all there to encourage and be there for one another! Everyone starts somewhere and walking in the door and making the commitment are the first steps! Congratulations and good luck!! Cant wait to meet you as well!!
