Lift It

 August 7, 2012

I feel like I have had the same conversation a lot lately. Maybe its just me, maybe I have been thinking a lot about how other people perceive the way I think about the gym and how some feel I am "obsessed" ... I am not sure. What I do know is that what I feel is something that I can not and do not want to let go of!! Whats so wrong with being "crazy" about the food that you choose to eat, the workout you choose to do and the lifestyle you choose to live?

I guess one of the biggest things is that I know what its like to be on the other side. I have totally been on the "I want results right away" side. In reality its not going to happen that quick and its not going to happen at all if you dont commit yourself to the changes necessary to make it happen. I think there has been a moment in everyones life when they want something so bad but dont have the push to get there. However with CF, we are lucky enough to have people to push us. The hardest part is, is getting in the door.

Todays WOD was a total rush for me! Another great sprint WOD that challenged me both in weight as well as body weight (chest to bars). To top it off we were deadlifting for the strength session! JM and I worked together on the deadlift which was so fun because I dont usually have someone so close in weight to me! We set up a bar and worked together for all of our sets. So encouraging to have her there with me. I have been working a lot on feeling the pull of the deadlift in my hamstrings. The funny thing was the very first rep of the first set I heard K say "load your hamstrings" and I knew she was talking to me. I corrected it and I was all set for the rest of the lifts. My legs are feeling the lunges for sure so it was a tough one!

When we got all set for the WOD I was feeling so ready to kill it! I set my bar up for the hang cleans, chalked up the bar for the chest to bars and laid my abmat in place. I was so ready! At the 3-2-1-GO we were off and running and I was so happy to be right where I was! Its funny how sometimes 5 minutes feels so long in a WOD and other times it takes forever. Today, the 5 minutes flew by as I worked my ass off to the very end. I knew that partial rounds werent going to count, but I couldnt stop myself from doing the additional reps that I had time for in each round. When we were doing, I couldnt have been happier with my performance!

My hands hurt and were ripped open (not to bad though), my chest is bruised from the bar hitting it on the cleans and I was dripping with sweat... and with a smile I thought like I do every day... I cant wait till tomorrow!!
